Just a random thing from some project I am developing.

Interactive dance performance using Kinect
For IDARTES Launch.
I used the infrared cameras from the kinect and some infrared lights. Created a small computer vision Client a la CCV, but using simpleopenni, openOSC and opencv for processing and wired it to my particle system and interactive brush from older proyects.
This was fun, hope to get to do more of such proyects.

En Coma Titles
Yay! it was finally released, so I get to show you the Film Titles I designed for Colombian Film En Coma
It’s nice because is one of the first projects in which I get to use Processing for motion graphics; I created a particle System with Dynamic friction (Thanks jj) which allowed me to simulate an aqueous atmosphere easily, and have text emit particles in 3d space. This post will be slowly edited with further information about the process behind the design and execution of this titles.
Design/Compositing by Nicolás Coronado
Additional Compositing and Typography by Angeles Leiva
3d Heart by Richard McDaniel
Music by Satiago Montesdeoca
Feature film “En Coma” by Juan David Restrepo and Henry Rivero.
Sorry for not posting anything in such a long while, I have been doing some freelance work at Fox Telecolombia. Some nice VFX stuff coming soon.

Sound tracer
Going back to the most basic expression of painting with sound.
This is meant to be a solution for the randomness of movement of the painting cursor in my other sound painting programs.
I was remembering that we used to do “vibration paintings” in school, holding a pen over a paper while on the bus, trying to transmit the vibrations of the road on the paper. I tried to reproduce this kind of effect by using the music and tracing a point.

A point leaded with audio driven forces. The direction is based on the frequency analysis, the weight is based on the amplitude of the frequencies. The latter version uses one point for the left channel and other for the right channel, it can be viewed as an Anagliph.
The upper one is done using Harrowdown Hill by Thom Yorke The lower one is done using Only if you run by Julian Plenti.

Game History Entries 001 and 002
I decided to teach myself game programming and game design with projects imitating the history of videogames. some about this in my alternate blog (which i have in collaboration with one of my closest friends Hernando Noreña), The Gap.
Game History Entry 001 On tennis for Two
As additional development comments… it’s nice to check how to use multiple keys, and to keep in mind that you have to create a state machine of sorts to know when is each player’s turn and to limit the repetitions of their actions.
Game History Entry 002 On Spacewar!
With not much additional comments except for the fact that they actually created a planetarium snippet to create the background of the game… which draws the current hemisphere’s star view… pretty cool for visualizations… gonna have to check that out later.

Aggregate Particle System
A couple more aggregate images from the particle system :) Points in 3d space and punctual gravitational forces.
The particle system actually came in handy for programming some particles for a film title I’m currently working on. I’ll show you that as soon as the movie is aired.
